First of all, lets define happiness. According to Merriam-Webster. Happiness: The state of being happy. An experience that makes you happy. I started researching the word happiness. Wikihow had 11 steps on how to be happy. I got maybe 4 out of the 11 on the list.
Being happy is not something you can maintain all the time. You can only grab moments of happiness while life is happening. The more moments you can grab the happier you become. I think when you are Bipolar your emotions are more extreme. This can make a sad situation worse and a happy situation better, depending where you are on your high or on your low.
Live in the moment - Being happy, happens to us in small doses. You can not be happy all the time it is impossible. It is easy to be happy when things are going good, but how do you be happy when life sucks. This is really a challenge for Bipolar people. Counseling, psychotherapy, and the right combination of medication will play a crucial role in helping to keep you from sinking into that very dark place that is the essence of depression. Be patient, but don't look for miracles. It may be that you will need the help of professionals throughout your life to maintain a generally even keel.
Does having money make you happy? - Everyone says no, but I sure would like to give it a try. Being broke sucks! Having money has to be better because your basic needs are met. You do not see rich people giving their money away to be poor and happy. I know you can be rich and miserable, but it is still better than being poor and miserable. A lot of people who are Bipolar can not hold a steady job. This has been an issue for me and a big obstacle for me.
I am not very happy or content at this time are you? - I am just going through the motions of everyday life. I guess I am on the depressed side. I guess I just feel empty and I am not sure how to fill myself up. I know I have to make things happen if I want life to be more interesting, I am just not sure how. I should be happy that I lost over a 100 pounds, yet even that seems sad. I was so focused on losing weight that it kept my mind of of other problems that I have. I think I am possibly a perfectionist, not in a good way. There is never any satisfaction in anything I do, it is never good enough. I have read a lot about being happy. I understand the concept of trying to be happy. Maybe I am trying to hard. I just know that life could be so much better.
